Pastor James Clidence grew up in Caro, Michigan, and came to know the Lord as his Savior under the ministry of Pastor Richard Flanders at Juniata Baptist Church in Vassar, Michigan. He followed the Lord in believer's baptism shortly thereafter.

Sensing God's call to preach, Pastor James attended Hyles-Anderson College from 2008 to 2012, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Youth Ministry. He later earned an associate's degree in Psychology from the Community College of Baltimore County in 2023, and he is continuing his education at Towson University, pursuing bachelor's degrees in psychology and philosophy, with plans to graduate in 2027 and go on to a master's degree and eventually a Ph.D.

In November 2015, he answered the call to serve as Youth Pastor at Freedom Baptist Church. In May 2018, he was called to serve as Senior Pastor. He is committed to faithfully preaching the Word of God verse by verse and chapter by chapter, and he boldly stands on biblical truth, refusing to compromise or water down Scripture in the face of cultural trends or political pressure.

Pastor James has spent 11 years working with struggling families and teenagers. He went back to school to study psychology because, in his words, "I want to be able to give people proper advice from an educated perspective instead of just a personal perspective."

He and his wife Amanda were married in 2012 after meeting in college, and they have a son. He also serves as the Maryland State Representative for the Baptist Bible Fellowship.
